The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar is a creation of the PetZip brand. PetZip is a pet brand that sees to the manufacture and sale of a number of different pet products.
Apparently, PetZip has its own Research and Development team that is responsible for checking out what dog parents currently want and coming up with designs and models that will attend to those needs.
Its lineup of pet products includes such stuff like travel products, strollers, leashes and collars. The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar is one of such collars.

Who Can Wear The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar?
The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar is a training collar and so can only be worn by dogs who are the right age and are healthy enough to be trained.
Hence, small dogs and or puppies younger than 6 weeks should not be wearing this collar. Additionally, pregnant and lactating mothers, together with senior dogs need not wear this collar.
We are always careful to say that we aren’t exactly excited about the idea of using a shock collar (which this collar is). There are more humane ways of training your dog. Try them, please!
Features Of The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar
1. Handset
This collar comes with one handset which is actually a remote that helps you control the activities of the collar. The handset is battery operated and uses a 9v battery which should be easy enough to get.
Now to the nitty gritty of the remote. First off, there is no screen on this remote. So, you can’t exactly see the instructions or information that you are passing across to the collar.
Now, there are just four buttons on this collar: shock, vibrate, sound, lighting. We’ve already mentioned that the PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar is a shock collar. The shock button is just for that purpose.
Pushing the vibrate button causes the collar to vibrate against the wearer’s neck as a form of warning. While the sound button causes the collar to break off in warning sounds.
However, the lighting button is for the remote itself. There are two LED lights on this collar and the lighting button gets them to come on.
Now, on the side of the remote are two switches. One is the on/off switch and of course is used for switching the remote on or off. The other switch is used to navigate among the shock levels. There are only three of them actually. Finally, there is an antenna on this collar.
2. Collar Receiver
The collar receiver is what will actually get to be on your dog’s neck. Remember we told you there is an antenna on the collar? That antenna is responsible for the connection between the handset and the collar.
Bend the antenna and you’ll practically need to stand toe to toe with your dog to get the thing to work. It barely covers 40 feet when the antenna is straight and there are no obstructions on your path.
The collar is also battery operated and makes use of 2 AAA batteries. It weighs about 85 grams and comes with two pairs of metal probes.
Either pair is meant to be attached to the collar so that the static shock can be properly transmitted to the wearer. The two pairs are of different lengths. And you are meant to choose the length that will reach to your dog’s neck.
Now, how do you know the collar works? It’s easy enough with the vibration, sound and light. You just have to look or hear to know that it works.
However, for the shock option, you’ll have to carry out a small test. This collar comes with a test light bulb that is attached to two little wires.
You should place the wires, one on either of the probes. Then you press the appropriate button and if you see the bulb light up then the shock option works.
3. Collar Strap
The nylon collar strap is kinda what ties the whole collar together. It comes with a plastic buckle for closing and opening the collar. It also comes with a tri glide for adjusting the collar. Apparently, the strap only adjusts between 7 and 19 inches which doesn’t make this collar very versatile.
This collar also has a metal D ring. This means that this collar can be used to walk your dog.
4. Training Manual
The collar also comes with a training manual. And this would have been a good thing if the training manual was easier to read. As it stands, you’ll have to figure out the training collar before figuring out the collar.
Is The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar User Friendly?
We think this collar is as good as other collars as regards usage. However, the training manual could make things a bit complicated.
If you’ll be using this collar, or any training collar for that matter, be sure that your veterinarian and/or dog trainer is aware. Let them be the one to say your dog needs a shock collar before you go get him one.
Pros Of The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar
1. Options
With this collar, you don’t necessarily have to use the shock option. You could just use the vibrate or warning tone option and see what happens.
2. Battery
We are not always excited about battery operated collars because getting replacements could be quite troubling and ultimately expensive. However, we have to concede that the batteries are easy to get.
Also, the batteries last for a decent period of time, dependent on how long you use them.
Cons Of The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar
This collar does not cover so great a distance. 40 feet isn’t very impressive, however, it could work for some people. The coverage actually gets worse if the antenna gets bent out of shape.
Also, the instructions are kinda all over the place and not very easy to understand.
