Who Can Wear The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar?
EtecStorm says that this collar can be worn by dogs that weigh between 10 and 100 pounds.
However, the collar only adjusts between 14 and 23 inches. What this means is that this collar can actually not be worn by small dogs.
And it’s just as well because young puppies really have no business wearing a shock collar or any training collar for that matter.
Not only small puppies, though. Invalid dogs, pregnant and lactating dogs, and also senior dogs have no business with this collar seeing as they are not getting trained.
You should know that a training collar is not one that should be worn all day every day. It is to be worn only for the duration of the training.

1. Remote Transmitter
The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar comes with a remote controller. This practically puts the administration of correction directly in your hand or the hand of the trainer.

There are four correction modes in this training collar. In ascending order of intensity the correction modes are light, tone, vibration, and shock.
There is a mode button that you are to use in navigating among the correction modes. You can basically choose the correction mode you think is right for your dog at the press of a button.
Now the shock mode also has levels of intensity to it. It is with the navigation buttons that you decide how intense you want the shock administered to your dog.
There is a screen on the remote on which whatever is done on the remote can be seen.
The screen is Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and is backlit by Light Emitting Diode (LED). This means that you can read whatever is on the screen all the time, night or day.
There is also an LED light on the top of the collar that can be used as a light in the dark. A button on the remote (the top one) is used to put on or put off the LED light.
You should know, though, that the LED light is pretty dim, it is almost useless.
The remote is made out of matte material and the idea is to make the remote comfortable for the holder. To turn on the remote transmitter, you press the mode button.
2. Collar Receiver
The collar receiver is that black box-like thing that is meant to be placed on your dog’s neck.
The transmitter is what processes the information received from the transmitter and also sends the correction mode to the wearer.
On the collar, you’ll notice two pointy things. Those things are usually referred to as shock electrodes.
The idea is for the shock electrodes to rest on your dog’s neck and send the shocks to your dog.
The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar comes with two pairs of electrode extensions.
One long pair and one short pair. The idea is for you to have a pair that is long enough to get to the wearer’s skin.
The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar also comes with a small plastic thing.
Inside that plastic thing is a bulb and the plastic thing is used for testing to see if the shock option of the collar actually works.
What you do is place the plastic tester over the shock electrodes and press the required button on the remote.
If the bulb inside the tester lights up, you know that the shock option works. For the other modes, you can conduct the test without the help of the tester.
There is a button on the receiver to turn it on. However, because of the position of the button, you’ll have to use a clip to press the button on.
The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar comes with a clip you can use.
The transmitter and also the receiver are water resistant but not necessarily waterproof.
What this means is that the EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar will be OK in light rain and also if sprinkled on but should not be submerged in water or worn under heavy rain.
3. Adjustable Belt
The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar comes with a strap which is used to hold the receiver to a dog’s neck.
The strap is made of nylon and is a one size fits all that adjusts between 14 and 23 inches.
The strap uses a black plastic buckle as a clasp and also features a black plastic tri-glide for adjusting the collar to size. It also has a D ring for attaching a leash to.
4. Charger
The EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar is a rechargeable collar, and so, comes with its own charger.
The charger is complete with the chord and the ‘head’. However, the ‘mouth’ that attaches to the collar is not USB.

With a training manual that is fairly easy to understand, we think it is safe to say that the EtecStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar is user-friendly.
However, be sure to inform your veterinarian and or dog trainer before you decide to use this collar on your dog. Just because of the sensitivity of the collar.

We like that the screen is backlit with LED so that the screen can be read in the dark or dim light.
Cons
The strap is probably the weakest link in this collar. It is not the strongest it could have been and some dogs will have no troubles breaking out of it.
Also, some people find the shocks to be too intense. Thankfully, there are other modes you can use.
