Best Dog Training Collar Review

Best Low Voltage Weatherproof Pet Training Collar with Remote, LCD Display and 3 Correctional Settings, 1000-Feet Range

From the name of the product, it is easy to ascertain that the Best Dog Training Collar is a training collar. Training collars are not exactly used to teach correct behavior but to correct wrong ones like incessant barking and pulling on collar.

So, the training collar employs the use of a certain kind of correction method, the most popular of which is static shock. Now, instead of writing a whole article on dog training collars and shock collars here, we recommend that you go check out those articles here and here.

In this review, we’ll be focusing our attention on the Best Dog Training Collar.

Who Is The Best Dog Training Collar For?

The Best Dog Training Collar is a shock collar and as a result would be too intense for certain dogs, irrespective of how mild the shocks are.

Generally, puppies who are younger than 6 weeks should not be wearing a training collar. You could train them if you think you really need to. However, be sure to stay clear of the training collars.

Also, small dog breeds like Chihuahuas might find the strap too big or the collar itself too heavy. While senior dogs and pregnant and lactating mothers should not be wearing this collar because they can’t be trained at this point.

Features Of The Best Dog Training Collar

1. Remote Controller

The remote controller is a small black box from which you will send commands to the collar. There is a small LED screen on this remote on which you can see what level the shock option is on. You can also see the battery life of the remote and the remote’s coverage.

Now, the Best Dog Training Collar has 3 correction modes: shock, vibration and tone. There is a button on the remote tagged ‘mode’. That is the button you’ll hit to navigate across the three correction modes.

Furthermore, there is a small LED light on the face of the collar for you to see at least two steps in front of you in the dark. To put that light on or off, there is a button with a light icon on the face.

The remote is supposed to cover about 1000 feet in distance. This should mean that you can use this collar to train your dog in your large yard. However, in reality, the remote doesn’t cover that much of a distance. You could get a good 10 feet out of the remote.

Additionally, the remote is rechargeable. You’ll know if you need to charge the remote by checking the power bars on the screen.

2. Collar Receiver

This is what actually sends the correction modes. First things first, be aware that the receiver falls all too often. If you have the patience to pick up the receiver every time it falls, you could go ahead and get it. Or you could find a way to secure the thing to the strap.

Now on the top of the receiver, you’ll notice there is a button. That is the power button for turning the collar on or off. Also, just beside the power button is a small light. That light indicates when the power is down for you to recharge it. And yes, the collar receiver is also rechargeable.

Furthermore, the collar receiver is, to a decent extent, water resistant. It should do well enough in the rain or when splashed on. However, if it can be avoided, don’t dunk the receiver.

Remember we said that this collar is rechargeable? Well, you’ll locate the charging port, together with a reset port, on the flip side of the collar.

Now, there are no indications on either of the ports for which is the charging and which is the reset. So, you’ll have to try both or get it at the first try, hopefully. However, both the ports have a kind of rubber gasket that covers them so that moisture does not get in.

Also, you’ll have to pull out the collar strap before you charge the collar.

3. Collar Strap

The collar receiver is supposed to be held in place by a nylon collar strap. The strap, like the rest of the collar, is water safe and is actually the only part of the collar that needs to be washed.

We’ve already pointed out that the receiver will fall off the strap (or probably the other way round) every once in a while. Now, this is probably due to the fact that the strap isn’t of the best quality. The strap is fragile and might not be strong enough for your big dog.

Anyway, the strap comes with a black plastic buckle for closing and opening the collar. It also comes with a plastic tri glide for adjusting the collar to your dog’s exact size. Both of them are easy enough to operate.Best Low Voltage Weatherproof Pet Training Collar with Remote, LCD Display and 3 Correctional Settings, 1000-Feet Range

Is The Best Dog Training Collar User Friendly?

You’ll find it easy enough to work with this collar. However, we think it is expedient that your dog trainer or veterinarian be in the know of your using this collar or any other training collar for that matter.

Pros Of The Best Dog Training Collar

1. Waterproof

We like that the Best Dog Training Collar does well enough around water. There is even an attempt to make sure water does not get into the collar with the rubber gasket that covers both the reset and the charging parts.

Cons Of The Best Dog Training Collar

We really do not like the quality of the Best Dog Training Collar. Firsts off, the receiver that is supposed to be responsible for sending the correction has a habit of falling off frequently. And you’ll agree with us that this defeats the purpose of the collar.

Also, the strap could have been made of sturdier material. Because as things stand, the strap could fall apart quicker than anyone expects.

Alternative Options To The Best Dog Training Collar

Option With Replaceable Batteries

PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar

4in1 Dog Training Shock and Vibration Collar by Atc

The PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar makes use of replaceable batteries. Now the remote and the collar receiver make use of different batteries. So, while the remote uses one 9v battery, the receiver uses 2 AAA batteries. And both of them are quite easy to come by.

Also, as regards the receiver staying in place, the PetZip 4in1 Dog Training Collar stands a far better chance than our featured collar. Check out this review for more information on this collar.

More Versatile Option

EtekStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar

EtekStorm Dog Training Collar With Remote Rechargeable & Rainproof LCD Screen 330 Yard Beep/Vibration/Shock Electric Train Collars For Small,Medium,Large Pets&Dogs(For 1 Dog)

The EtekStorm Rechargeable Dog Collar is our more versatile option because one remote can be used to control two collars. Both collars have to be EtekStorm collars, of course.

This is a nice idea if you have two dogs. Because you can train two of them at the same time from the same remote. It just makes things easier for everybody.

You’ll need to pay extra to get the two collars. However, the extra is not double the original price. That should count for something, shouldn’t it? Anyway, we also have a review on this collar that you can check out here.

No Shock Option

Wolfwill No Shock Remote Collar

WOLFWILL 100% Waterproof Rechargeable Humane No Shock Remote Dog Training Collar 1980ft Blind Operation with Tone Vibration Light Electric Collar Dogs(22 to 88lbs)

The Wolfwill No Shock Remote Collar makes use of only vibrations and warning tones as correction modes. So, it could be considered a safer option than any of the other collars listed.

Also, this collar is waterproof; both the remote and the receiver. Know, though, that this collar costs a lot more than our featured collar.
