When you pull on this ring, the collar tightens. The wearer learns to associate the tightening with something he should not be doing and then invariably learns to stop doing that thing.
The collar can only tighten as far as the martingale loop allows it. This is why martingales are generally considered more humane than other kinds of training collars.
3. Clasp And Tri Glide
For a clasp, the collar uses a quick snap plastic buckle. The tri glide is another plastic thing on this collar and is used for adjustment.
In adjusting the collar, ensure that the collar is comfortable enough when it is lax. Also ensure that the collar is tight enough to be uncomfortable but not tight enough to choke when it is constricted.
