Well, the Ruffwear Hoopie Dog Collar in size small adjusts between 11 and 14 inches. So you cannot get this collar for your really small dog because it doesn’t come in their size.
Also, the large size variant adjusts between 20 and 26 inches. This should cover a good range of large dogs.

1. Material
Apparently, the collar is made of Ruffwear designed Tubelok webbing. We don’t really know what this is but our best guess is that it is some kind of nylon material.
Anyway, whatever the material is, what is pretty important is that the collar is strong. It is made in such a way that it is durable and pretty difficult to tear apart while also being soft.
The idea behind this collar is for it to be used by dogs with boundless energy in the outdoors. And so it was built that way; strong, durable and also resistant to the pull from over energetic dogs.
That said, we don’t think it should cause your dog any kind of irritation or skin reaction. However, if your dog is easily prone to these issues, pay close attention to him (at least the first few times he wears it).
The edges are properly stitched such that the collar won’t fray easily. Also, the edges will not get caught on dog fur which could be quite painful. Especially if your dog is long furred.
The Ruffwear Hoopie Dog Collar comes in just four color options; wild berry, red currant, obsidian black and wildflower. The colors do not run which also means this collar is water safe.
2. Clasp And Leash Ring
This collar uses a regular side release black plastic buckle.
The leash ring is actually a V ring. It is made of aluminum and is anodized so that it does not succumb to rust when it is exposed to water.
The leash ring is sewn into the collar. This way, when your energetic dog pulls on the leash (which is attached to the leash ring, of course), the ring stays in place.
3. Tri Glide And ID Ring
This collar uses a plastic tri glide for adjustments.
It also features a silicone brand logo. Now close to that logo is a small plastic ring which is what you are to attach your dog’s ID tag to.
When you get the collar, you’ll see a small tag hanging from the ID ring. That tag is called a tag silencer and is made out of silicone. Its purpose is to reduce, to the barest minimum, the amount of noise your dog’s ID tag will make dangling from the ring.
How? What usually causes the noise is the dog tag hitting against metal. Now with the silicone silencer, the tag hits the silicone and doesn’t make as much noise (if any).

We will say yes. Seeing as the collar doesn’t have any technicalities to it. You could be new to the whole dog parenting business and still know what to do when you get this collar. So yes, it is user friendly.

This is a feature that is not very common in dog collars. However, we are loving the idea (and indeed the execution). Practically every dog parent will welcome anything that will curb that annoying metal against metal clang.
3. The Colors
Although this ollar doesn’t have a wide enough selection of colors, we like that the colors don’t run in water. Not everybody is comfortable with a collar that dyes their dog’s fur.
Also, because the color does not run, we can be hopeful that the collar will remain bright for a long time.
