Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate — Detailed Review

Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate

When we tried researching on the brand behind the Guardian Gear Proselect Easy Dog Crate, we kinda met a stumbling block. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of detail online about the brand behind the crate.

Although, we did see that this is made from a brand called “Easy” even though there’s no way to confirm that this is exactly true.

It would get us worried, understandably, that this brand does not exist anywhere online. Because think about it, these days, if you aren’t online, you don’t exist, at least, as a business.

However, it does seem like there isn’t any need to worry per se. it would appear that the brand is doing pretty good by its customers. We’re talking objectively based on what we’ve seen from customer reviews now…

This crate, for instance, has great reviews, and many customers have good things to say about this crate.

Well, be that as it may, you’re going to have to make the choice to patronize this faceless brand or not. We hope our unbiased review on the Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate helps you make a wise choice.

Who Is The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate For?

We will advise that you use this crate for crate-trained dogs alone. Dogs that aren’t crate-trained could disfigure or destroy the crate altogether.

Now, for the fashion-forward pet parent, this crate comes in two colors besides black which could add to your home décor as well. But if you’re the more traditional parent, there’s, of course, always the black color for you too.

And finally, this comes in 6 sizes ranging all the way from extra small to extra large. So your dog’s size, whatever it is, is catered to with this crate.

Features Of The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate

1. Metal Construction

This comes with a metal construction. There isn’t much to say in that regard.

It’s not exactly the strongest crate on the block but it does fairly enough. As a rule, we do not put so much confidence in wire dog crates. So, our advice concerning wire dog crates hardly changes.

If you’re getting this, you want to get this for a well-trained dog. If not, it is very possible for a rambunctious dog to bend the wire with the sheer force of his weight.

But besides that, if we all stick to the rules, this is well-made so it should last as long as.

2. Doors

The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate comes with only one door. This isn’t too much of a problem for us. Well, except for the fact that it would be a bit inconvenient for the user. It’s not as much of a problem as much as it is a mild annoyance.

But here is our big problem.

We do feel like this is a tad bit too expensive for a crate that only comes with one door.

Like, what really is the point here? What are we paying extra for? Are we paying for the colored paint? Then in that case, the black crate should be less expensive but it’s not.

We are dang sure we’re not paying for the strength of the crate either. This is your regular, everyday crate so we can’t be paying for strength.

And usually, crates that come within this price range usually come with multiple doors. And this comes with just one! One?! Sorry, but we just can’t see how this is justified.

Well, maybe if you have a bajillion dollars, it might not be such a big deal. But for the average majority, this is too pricey and unjustifiably so.

That’s for the door, though. As for the latch system, it seems to be pretty great. There were a few complaints understandably. But other than that, the latches seem to work fine.

It’s a dual latching system. So, it should keep your pet safe. We can’t say for Harry Houdini pet incarnates, though. You know they have their ways. But generally, the latch system of this crate works.

3. Foldable

To make the Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate easier to carry, this crate comes foldable. So, you can fold this down and move it around or store it easily.

However, it would appear that this crate is somewhat heavy. So, a lot of customers kinda found this a bit awkward to move around.

4. Removable Floor Tray

The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate comes with a removable floor tray to make this crate easier to clean. The tray is made of plastic and is quite lightweight and is also easy to clean.

We generally don’t trust the integrity of a plastic removable tray. It could encourage chewing for chewy dogs. Plus, plastic isn’t so durable.

But that’s not the focus of our review today. Just letting you know…

5. Divider Panel

A divider panel will help you to manage the crate according to your pup’s size per time. This is especially great for parents with large breed dogs that grow super fast.

6. Different Colors Available

Fashion-forward pet parents are going to love the fact that the Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate comes in different color options.

There’s the black finish, of course. But there are also two other color options which are the raspberry and teal.

7. All Sizes Available

The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate comes in all 6 sizes. So, it carries all sizes of dog crates that will take care of your dog regardless of his size.

Pros Of The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate

1. Folds for convenient storage and travel.

2. Easy to set up for most customers.

3. Comes in other color options besides black – teal and raspberry.

Cons Of The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate

1. To us, the Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate seems to be too expensive for the features that it offers.

2. This crate feels somewhat flimsy so it definitely won’t stand up to really energetic dogs.

3. Somewhat heavy to carry around even when folded.

4. Not so easy to set up for some customers. Some reported that they required a bit of force to set this up.

5. Comes with just a single door.

6. A few complaints about the crate being too small for most dogs.

More Affordable Option — The Petco Premium 2-Door Dog Crate

In our opinion, we do think that this crate is somewhat overpriced, so we will be recommending the Petco Premium 2-Door Dog Crate which we feel offer better value.

It comes with two doors and still costs significantly less than our featured product.

It doesn’t come in other colors besides black though. But we don’t think that that’s such a big deal here. Other aspects of this crate check out for us which, we believe, is more important.

Of course, you shouldn’t use this with aggressive breeds. Plus, you might want to beef up the doors a little bit. But altogether, this crate serves and is a much better pick than the Guardian Guard ProSelect Easy Dog Crate. For the money, that is.

We’ve been able to confirm from many customers that have used this crate that it is quite strong and would take a beating without showing much.

The doors aren’t exactly impregnable but if you can fortify them a bit, this crate will work just fine.

For pet parents that travel a lot, you might need something that’s more travel-friendly. So, for this reason, we recommend the Go Pet Club Soft Crate for Pets.

The Go Pet Club Soft Crate for Pets comes with a very convenient handle that makes this crate really easy to carry. Also, it folds quite flat too. So, it’s comfortable to move around whether your pup is in it or not or whether the crate is folded down or not.

Another reason you’ll find this crate super convenient is that when folded down, it takes up a lot less space and weighs a lot less too. If there’s any travel crate worth betting on, we think this stands as a serious contender.

If you really need a crate that comes in other colors besides black, then check out the Midwest iCrate Folding Metal Dog Crate. The crate is a lot more affordable than our featured product.

Plus, in addition to the traditional black finish, this crate (the single door option) also comes in both blue and pink finishes as well.

The Midwest iCrate Folding Metal Dog Crate does come with most challenges that wire dog crates come with. So, expect those.

However, we still recommend this because it offers you two great benefits – color options, and a much more affordable price.

What Customers Are Saying About The Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate

Generally, we would say that most customers like the Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate and for a few good reasons too. But then again, this crate did create a lot of divided opinions among customers.

For instance, it’s the opinion of most customers that this crate is somewhat flimsy. Some customers even did report that their dog was able to bend the crate with some force.

But then again, on the other hand, a lot of customers also did say that this crate is well made and durable too.

Again, in the department of assembly, there were pet parents who assembled this crate with ease. But there were also those who insisted that this took a bit of force and tactics. Also, many customers stated that the difficulty in assembling this was made worse by the fact this does not come with instructions they could follow.

Furthermore, some feel the crate comes in a size big enough but others feel it’s too small.

But like we said, this crate raked up a lot of mixed reactions. But generally, the vibes are positive and many people like this crate.

Our Verdict

How do we feel towards the Guardian Gear ProSelect Easy Dog Crate? Well, so so. We won’t say we’re head over heels for this crate. To us, it’s just a decent crate, not absolutely amazing but definitely overpriced.

However, you definitely won’t be making a terribly life-altering decision picking this crate. It should serve its purpose sufficiently.
