The Authenzo Bark Control Collar is one of Authenzo’s products. Authenzo as a company produces bark control collars that are to be used in training dogs.

It is dedicated to the production of what it refers to as humane bark collars. Authenzo bark control collars usually carry the ‘no harm shock’ tag. However, this tag should not be confused for ‘no shock’. Because its collars are actually shock collars but apparently it considers the shock pretty mild.

Who Can Wear The Authenzo Bark Control Collar?

We already know that the Authenzo Bark Control Collar is meant for dogs. But what dogs exactly? First off, this control collar should only be worn by dogs who bark excessively. That is, dogs who have normal bark behavior should not bother wearing this collar.

Also, small puppies (younger than 6 weeks), senior dogs, pregnant and lactating mothers and invalid dogs too shouldn’t be wearing this collar. They can’t be trained, so they don’t need this collar.

Features Of The Authenzo Bark Control Collar

1. Receiver

The receiver is the nerve center of any bark control collar. We refer to it as such because it is responsible for picking the bark sound from the wearer and sending the appropriate correction mode also.

Now to pick the bark sounds, the Authenzo Bark Control Collar features a smart detection chip that is meant to pick up only the bark sounds coming from the wearer. This means that the collar won’t go off when other dogs bark or at random noises.

Now, it offers three (3) correction modes; beep, vibration and shock. The vibration and shock modes and also the sensitivity of the collar itself are in 7 modes which you are allowed to navigate through.

Authenzo advises that for small dogs, the sensitivity level be set to 6 or 7, vibration be set for 1 or 2 while shock be put off or set at 1. Medium dogs should be OK if the sensitivity level is between 5 and 7, vibration is between 2 and 3 and shock is between 1 and 2.

For large dogs, sensitivity level set at between 4 and 5, vibration between 3 and 4 and shock between 3 and 4 should be OK. While huge dogs will be OK with the sensitivity level at 3, vibration between 5 and 7 and shock between 5 and 7.

However, we would still advise that you test it out on you first to decide what level works for your dog. Especially since (contrary to Authenzo‘s claims) the static shock has been known to pack a punch.

There are two metal probes on the Authenzo Bark Control Collar that are meant to rest directly on your dog’s skin. This is because the probes are what the shocks will pass through.

2. Collar Strap

The collar strap is what ties the collar together. It is made of nylon and is a one-size-fits-all. This is why there is a plastic tri glide on the strap.

The entire collar is kinda waterproof. We say kinda because it should be OK in the rain and also in small puddles but should not be submerged. So, your dog can’t wear this collar when he goes swimming and can also not wear it to take a bath.

However, the strap has no issues with being washed or submerged in water. Just be sure to pull it out of the receiver before washing it. This control collar uses a plastic buckle for a clasp.

3. Battery

The collar uses an inbuilt battery that is rechargeable. It comes with its own USB cord that can be plugged to basically any device with a USB port.

4. Training Manual

Included in the Authenzo Bark Control Collar package is a training manual that should be a good enough resource to help you work the collar.

Is The Authenzo Bark Control Collar user Friendly?

If you’ve ever handled a bark control collar, handling this particular collar should be a walk in the park. It works like most bark control collars do without any hidden difficulty.

However, if you’ve never, the training manual should be able to help you navigate through things. We always advise, though, that your veterinarian or dog trainer be informed of your intention to use a shock collar on your dog.

Pros Of The Authenzo Bark Control Collar

1. Rechargeable

We really like that this collar is rechargeable. Because, although it costs a bit now, in the long run it is a money saving option. You save the money you would have had to spend getting replacement batteries.

2. Options

The Authenzo Bark Control Collar offers a number of options. You are allowed to set the sensitivity level, the vibration level and also the shock level.

3. Kinda Waterproof

Though the Authenzo Bark Control Collar isn’t safe when submerged in water, it is safe in the rain.

Cons Of The Authenzo Bark Control Collar

The shock can be very intense. So we really advise that you pay very close attention to how intense the collar gets. If you have a small dog, try to do without the shock totally. Most small dogs are fine without it.

Also know that some dogs have learnt to stop barking excessively only when they are wearing the collar. At other times, they bark as much as they want to. We are not exactly sure whose fault it is though.

The Backguard Citronella Anti-Bark Collar is a totally different collar. It doesn’t use shocks, vibrations or even beeps. It just makes use of citronella spray.

The collar sprays some citronella liquid into the wearer’s face when he barks incessantly. And you need not be bothered about the spray hurting your dog because it doesn’t.

Most people seem to think that the Authenzo Bark Control Collar is effective and maybe even too effective. The shocks tend to be rather intense so one will have to be careful about using them. Aside that, the Authenzo Bark Control Collar seems to be doing alright.
