Who Can Wear The ASX Design LED Dog Collar?
The ASX Design LED Dog Collar comes in 4 different sizes: small, medium, large and extra-large.
The small adjusts between 13.7 and 15.7 inches with its width as 0.98 inch and weighs 53 grams. While the medium adjusts between 15.7 and 17.7 inches, also has a 0.98 inch width and weighs 55 grams.
On the other hand, the large adjusts between 17.7 and 20.4 inches with a 0.98 inch width and weighs 57 grams. While the extra-large adjusts between 20.4 and 23.6 inches, also has a 0.98 inch width and weighs 61 grams.
Features Of The ASX Design LED Dog Collar
1. Material
This collar is made of nylon. And truth be told, the material of this collar is not its best feature. Maybe it is because the collar is going through a lot (what with holding in LED lights and all) but there is a significant probability that the collar will fall apart.
We also think that the stitches could have been better done. They do not look improperly done or ugly. However, the edges easily fray and that could have been prevented by making stronger stitches.
The collar comes in 6 different colors: blue, green, yellow, rainbow, orange and pink.
2. Lights
The ASX Design LED Dog Collar is powered by LED lights. It looks to us like there are only two lights in this collar. One on either end of the collar.
However, we have to give it to this collar, the lights are really bright. They can be seen from a good distance away.
And this is especially really amazing when you consider the fact that the entire collar is lit up by just two strategically positioned LED lights. This is definitely something that this collar got right.
The only little thing is that the lights might not last for as long as you want. But at least, for as long as they remain, they are very bright.
Now, there are three options with the lights: long flash, short flash and steady on. If you are going to walk your dog in the dark with humans around, it is best you make use of the steady glow because light flashes tend to irritate the human eye.
However, if it is just you and your dog(s) in your yard, whatever light option you choose is fine.
Be aware that because of the lights, this collar is not water safe. It can endure the occasional water splashes but definitely not immersion in water.
This automatically means that the collar cannot be washed. Just do a wipe down with a damp cloth or soft brush. Also, this collar should not be worn in the rain.
3. Control Box
There is a black box placed in between folds of material on this collar. The box contains controls for navigating among the different light options and also for turning the collar off.
Furthermore, the collar is powered by replaceable batteries and the batteries are placed inside this box. There is a transparent plastic ID on the box and the product manufacturer instructs that you remove that ring before you use the box or the collar.
However, we think the box could have been better placed or even hidden. Because the way it is, the wearer can easily get the box out and maybe even manipulate the controls.
4. Clasp, Leash Ring And Tri Glide
The ASX Design LED Dog Collar uses a regular black plastic buckle as a clasp.
On the other hand, the leash ring is made of metal and sewn to the top of the collar. The ring is not sewn in but looks kinda like an attachment. It doesn’t stand a very good chance of remaining where it is meant to be.
The tri glide is made of plastic and glides along smoothly enough.
Is The ASX Design LED Dog Collar User Friendly?
Everything you need to get this collar going is on the control box. And the control box is a fairly easy thing to operate. Just make sure your dog does not get his paws on it.
Pros Of The ASX Design LED Dog Collar
1. Bright Lights
As we earlier pointed out, the lights on this collar are really bright and cover a very reasonable distance. With this collar, there can’t be the ‘we didn’t see him’ excuse anymore. At least, for as long as the lights work.
2. Affordable
The ASX Design LED Dog Collar is one of the most affordable collars out there in the market. It is even more affordable than a number of basic collars.
The affordability is more of a plus because of how bright the lights are. At least, you can get something out of its affordability.
Cons Of The ASX Design LED Dog Collar
The ASX Design LED Dog Collar isn’t the most durable collar out there. From the material used to the lights and even the D ring, the collar could do with an upgrade in durability.
