Is The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar For All Dogs?
Generally, this collar is a training collar but its specific purpose is to help adjust wrong barking behavior. This should then mean that only dogs who have barking issues need use this collar.
That said, the sizes run from mini to large. However, XVolt says the collar shouldn’t be used on dogs that are 2 months and younger.
Features Of The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar
1. Smart Detection Chip
This collar makes use of pretty advanced technology in detecting vibrations from the wearer’s throat only.
There is a chip inside the collar that is responsible for this. This makes it so that this collar does not pick up random bark sounds from other dogs. Or worse still pick up random noises that sound like dog barks.
A bark control collar is designed to give off some form of correction whenever the wearer barks. And what some collars do is pick up bark sounds then send the correction.
So what they detect is sound which could be dangerous for the reasons we’ve already mentioned.
However, becuase the XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar that picks up vibrations, the error of picking up sounds that sound like barks is greatly reduced.
2. Clasp And D Ring
This collar uses a plastic buckle for a clasp but does not have a D ring (leash ring). A leash ring is not absolutely important, though, seeing as this is not meant to be used as an every day collar.
If you need to walk him while he is wearing this collar, you could pair it with a regular collar to which you can attach a leash/lead.
3. Adjustability Features
For fit, there is a tri glide that allows you adjust the collar. But for the corrections, there are 5 sensitivity levels to this collar. For each level, the collar gives a warning beep before administering the static shock.
If your dog stops barking after he gets the warning beep, the static shock won’t go off at all. On the other hand, if he keeps barking non-stop for 30 seconds even after the collar has administered the shock, the collar will automatically shut off.
This is so that the shocks your dog receives isn’t over the top.
Now, it is advised that in picking the appropriate sensitivity level, you start with the lowest level. That could be all your dog needs to behave. Only consider going higher if your dog seems resistant to the current level of shock.
Or better still, seek professional help.
This collar is powered by rechargeable batteries.
According to XVolt, you could charge the collar for just an hour and use it for as many as 10 days. (We don’t know how that works though).
The collar comes with its own charging cord and practically any charging port is appropriate.
The collar is made up of a number of parts that you have to assemble. One is the nylon strap which you secure around your dog’s neck. This strap also contains a part of the collar transmitter.
The other part is the collar transmitter. That is the part you charge and which most people remove from the body of the collar before charging. This is also where the bark detection chip is embedded.
Then there are the electrical pins. This anti-bark collar comes with 2 short pins and 2 long ones. The pins are responsible for the transmission of the static shocks.
Is The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar User Friendly?
A first timer might have some difficulties seeing as the parts are disassembled.
However, if you’re a pro at using bark control collars, you’ll be able t figure it out pretty easily. We’ll advise that you speak with your vet, especially as regards the appropriate shock intensity.
Pros Of The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar
1. Shock Intensity Options
It is a good thing that there are 5 sensitivity levels to this collar seeing as all dogs are not the same and cannot all endure the same intensity of static shock.
It can be recharged. This will definitely save you the money you would have used to replace the batteries.
3. Vibration Detection
This collar is designed to detect bark-intense vibrations coming from your dog and no one else. This narrows down the number of factors that can trigger the correction mode to one.
Your dog can wear their collar in the rain and the collar will still be fine. However, while it is rainproof, it isn’t waterproof and so shouldn’t be submerged in water.
5. Warning Beep
We like that this collar gives off a warning beep before the static shock. It gives the wearer room to change their mind before he barks.
Cons Of The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar
Trying to decipher what goes where is not exactly a problem. But fixing what where it should be could be a challenge. As we said earlier, the parts are properly disassembled. An easy to attach collar would have been a plus.
Alternatives To The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar
High End Option — POP VIEW No Shock Bark Collar
This collar is a bark control collar quite alright. But it does not make use of static shocks at all, just warning beeps and vibrations.
There are also options on this collar. You have the high sensitivity option and the low sensitivity option. So you can choose whatever will work.
Opposite Spectrum — Barklo No Shock Anti-Bark Collar
This collar also does not employ the use of static shocks. Just the tone and vibration. However, something else that stands this collar out is that it does not have any spikes.
Most collars have spikes that transmit the correction mode. But since it’s just about the vibrations, the makers felt the Barklo No Shock Anti-Bark Collar could do without the spikes. So, there you have it. Find out more here.

What People Are Saying About The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar
This collar has actually not gotten the best of feed backs. Granted, some people say that it works just fine and their dogs have stopped barking.
However, it does seem like more people have issues with it. Some say that it doesn’t work so well while a number of others say that the shocks are too intense, even at the lowest sensitivity level.
Our Opinion Of The XVolt Smart Detection Anti-Bark Collar
We are not particular fans of shock collars as we believe that there are more humane ways to teach dogs not to bark unnecessarily. But this one does seem like an OK collar.
