Hello there! Today, we’ll be reviewing the Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack. To find out more about backpacks in general, why you need them, and how to go about buying them, check out our article on backpacks here.
Before going into the details about the backpack we have today, let’s look at the brand that produces the backpack, Wellever. We’re sorry, but after much research, we couldn’t find much about the brand. The only things were seller profiles on different shopping sites.
However, with those little resources, we were able to gather that Wellever is a pet production company. They make toys, backpacks, carriers, harnesses, and similar products.
One thing we could find about the brand is that it guarantees customer satisfaction. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with whatever product you bought from this company, you can call and order a refund.
We do not know if terms and conditions apply, you would have to find out from the brand, yourself.
Alright! That’s about all we could gather concerning Wellever. Got any other information you think we didn’t put? Please let us know down in the comments.
Now that that is done, we can move on to the product, proper. Let’s go!

Who Can Wear The Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack?
Any dog can wear this backpack. However, you need to see your vet first to confirm. We can only give you the general look of things. Only your vet, who knows your dogs’ medical history, will be able to tell for sure whether this backpack is good for him or not.
Besides that, the backpack is available in a range of sizes from small to medium to large. So, your dog will, most likely, find something in his size here.
Features Of The Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack
1. Top Mesh
Aside from the strip of fabric that carries the handle and leash attachment, the top of this backpack is made with mesh material. If you don’t already know, mesh simply refers to net-like fabric, mostly polyester.
Because it’s net-like and contains a lot of holes, this material makes any backpack breathable. This is healthy when you go out on a hot summer day as it prevents overheating which only brings with it bad consequences such as aggressiveness.
However, if the day is very hot and there’s no sign of wind, the mesh won’t really do much. In such cases, you’ll need to put some frozen bottles into the backpack, on both sides, to cool him down.
2. Handle And Leash Attachment
We talked about the single strip of fabric on top of the backpack that is not made with mesh that houses the handle and the leash attachment.
These two features — the handle and leash attachment — are responsible for keeping your dog in check, and controlling him. The handle is to control him when he’s close by and in cases of emergency. The leash attachment is to attach your leash for when he’s a bit distant and just for general controlling.
Now, the handle is not padded, making it a bit harsh on your palm. However, we feel that’s a good thing because it will discourage you from using it until absolutely necessary.
You shouldn’t use the handle to carry your dog for a long time. After a while, you’ll be putting too much pressure on your dogs’ small ribcage, which is never advised. Aside from that, there’s a risk that the handle can break. Imagine you’re carrying your dog high up the ground and the handle breaks. Tragic.
3. Colors Available
The Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack provides a lot of choices in the form of colors available. There are six different color combinations available for you to pick from: blue/white, green/grey, green/white, grey/black, red/black, and finally, yellow/grey.
Out of the six, a few really stand out for us, the blue/white and the green/white because they are both bright, hi-vis colors. The rest do equally okay too, well, except the grey/black for obvious reasons.
For the colors of a backpack to be regarded as functional, they have to be bright enough to make it easier for you to see your pooch when it’s dark.
4. Sizes Available
The Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack is available in 3 different sizes: small, medium, and large. To find the right size for your pooch, you’ll need to measure his girth. Your dogs’ girth refers to the circumference around the widest area of his chest.
After measuring your dogs’ girth, you’ll need to compare his measurements with the company’s sizing chart, to find out the size that matches. We’ve attached the size chart beneath this sub for your perusal. If you can’t find any for your dog, then you might find something for your dog in the alternatives section.
Pros Of The Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack
1. There are many color options for this backpack.
1. The straps are quite difficult to use especially with long-haired dogs as you could clip his hairs while buckling it.
2. This backpack does not come with reflective stripes although colors are bright. Reflective stripes would definitely have been a plus bright colors or not.
Alternative Options To The Wellever Saddle Dog Backpack
More Affordable Option — Outward Hound Kyjen Dog Backpack
You thought this was the most affordable that dog backpacks could get? Well, we’re glad to burst your bubble. Yes, there is an even more affordable pack that still does an awesome job.
With this Outward Hound pack, you’re getting a slightly better pack for a cheaper price. We say it’s slightly better because unlike the backpack in review, the saddlebags on this pack can be removed and the backpack used as just a harness.
Did we also mention that it comes with reflective stripes? Yes, yes it does. The only downside to this is that the bags are attached using Velcro straps which are not very strong. Because they’re not very strong, they can fall off easily.
Saddlebags Attach With Buckles — Ospet Saddlebags Dog Backpack
This is like an alternative to the alternative of the product. So, the first alternative, we showed you a more affordable option but the saddlebags are attached to the harness using Velcro straps.
You can get that, or you can add a few bucks and get this one that is fastened using plastic buckles. This provides you with more durability for the outdoors.

What Do Other People Think?
Well, people like that the backpack is really affordable. At just under 20 bucks, there are hardly any decent backpacks you can find out there. They also love the many options provided by the manufacturers in the way of colors available.
What Do We Think?
Pretty decent backpack. this is one of those backpacks that will catch your eye because of its price. However, if you search properly, you’ll find few flaws here and there. One is the fact that it doesn’t come with any reflective stripes.
Before making your final decision, check out our alternatives and compare all of them.
