Who Can Wear The Kurgo Dog Backpack?
If your dog can wear a backpack, he absolutely can wear this backpack. However, we always advise that you see a vet for authorization before getting any backpack. They alone can accurately tell the max weight your dog can carry in a backpack without putting their spine in danger.
Features Of The Kurgo Dog Backpack
1. Material
This backpack is lined with mesh material which is breathable, allowing for air to get to your dog properly. So, if you like take to the trails on a hot summer day, this will work well for you.
This backpack, though, is not for the cold winters as it material is too think to keep your dog warm in such conditions.
It’s also not great for the rainy season as well. The material of this backpack is not water-resistant, neither is it waterproof. So, your pup is sure to get drenched in the rain wearing this.
But then again, you can spray the fabric with waterproof spray. This spray works pretty well but has to be bought separately.
2. Design
The Kurgo Dog Backpack comes as a harness and two saddles (much like most other dog backpacks), although you cannot separate the harness from the saddles which would have given this backpack some extra points.
With this, if you want to take a rest, you’d have to remove the whole bag. Taking off and putting the bag back on several times on one trail can get exhausting. Plus, you’d also have to also carry a collar or another harness to hook his leash to while you rest, which increases your gear and inconvenience.
All that said, this backpack comes with a handle. The handle is strong enough for you to lift your dog with, or at least that’s what they said. Even with this handle, we won’t advise you to lift your dog up from his back. You’ll be putting too much stress on his rib cage.
3. Color
The Kurgo Dog Backpack is available in three different colors; red, blue, black/orange. We like the first two colors, red and blue. That’s because, they are very bright, hi-vis colors. The last one is not.
4. Fasteners
This backpack uses buckles. That’s a good thing as opposed to many others that use Velcro straps. Velcro straps are good, but buckles are better because they are stronger.
There are three straps tightened to keep this dog backpack in place. There is a chest strap that buckles into one underbelly strap, and there is the last belly strap. The last one runs across your dogs’ stomach, close to his waist.
We have to commend the brand because these straps are strategically placed such that the backpack stays on even when your pooch is running through bushes.
5. Sizes Available
The Kurgo Dog Backpack is available in two different sizes, grouped according to your dogs’ weight. Because it is a backpack, the length can easily be adjusted to fit any dog size.
The two sizes include 30-85 pounds and 50-150 pounds.

What Do People Think?
People like the fact that the pockets are big enough to contain all their dogs’ needs. They also like the fact that the material is really durable and long-lasting. However, people are concerned for their long-haired dogs. “Will the hair get caught in the clip?” You’re going to have to be extra careful.
