Hamilton Thick Nylon Deluxe Dog Collar, 1-Inch by 24-Inch Double, Teal Before we dive into the review of the Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar (Hamilton Thick Nylon Deluxe Dog Collar), let us first look at its creator.

Since 1973, Hamilton has been diligently manufacturing animal products and been doing a mighty fine job of it.

It doesn’t just cater to pets but also farm animals like horses and cows. So, its range of products include anything from dog collars and cat harnesses to horse tacks and cow leads. Yup that wide.

Now about the Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar. It is your regular everyday collar and it comes in a variety of beautiful colors.

There is more to this collar than meets the eye and, in this review, we are here to find out all about them. Leggo!

Can All Dogs Wear The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar?

This collar is so not for small or even medium-sized dogs. Aside from the fact that the collar is double thick (which will probably too much for small and medium-sized dogs), the sizes run large. We are talking between 18 and 30 inches. So, this is for large-sized dogs only.

Features Of The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar

1. Material

This collar is made of what Hamilton refers to as deluxe nylon, which just basically refers to the high quality of the collar.

The collar is also constructed in a way that it is even more durable. How?  Well, unlike most other collars, it is made of double strips of nylon. Other collars usually have just a single layer.

This makes the Hamilton Double Thick doubly durable and even doubly resistant to wear and tear. It will be a great difficulty for even the most enthusiastic of dogs to break or tear their way out of this collar.

Now, despite the fact that the collar is doubled, it is still pretty soft. Soft enough that your dog does not run the risk of getting injured.

If you are going to be doing a tie-out (tying your dog outside because he isn’t allowed inside), this collar will do the job well. Just be sure to use the D Ring and not just the neck of the collar.

2. Clasp, D Ring, And ID Tag

The clasp is also something that’s different about the Hamilton Dog Collar. Unlike the very popular plastic buckles that most collars feature, this collar uses a metal tongue buckle.

The buckle is pretty easy to work. If you know how to work a belt, you should know how to work this buckle. You feed the band into the buckle and hook the tongue into the hole for a proper fit.

You can also use the D Ring for tie-outs.

Aso, there is a thinner ring on the collar that is meant for you to attach his ID tag. Don’t hook the tag on the leash ring. And just so you don’t get it mixed up, please note that the leash ring is thicker than the ID ring.

The clasp, D Ring and ID tag are nickel-free coated, giving them a shine and rust-resistant quality.

3. Tri-Glide

There’s one tri-glide on this collar. And of course, we know that the tri-glide is used for adjusting the collar.

Adjusting the collar is pretty easy once you are able to work the collar. The tri-glide and the kind of buckle used on this collar make it so that this collar is pretty flexible.

Is The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar User-Friendly?

You do not need any form of training to be able to use this collar. You can figure it out all on your own. In fact, there isn’t even much to figure out. So yes, it’s pretty user-friendly.

What We Love About The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar

1. This collar is made of double-layered nylon which improves durability.

2. Meta parts are nickel-free which keeps them rust-resistant.

3. Although double-layered, this collar is still quite comfortable.

4. The collar comes with a high-level of adjustability.Hamilton Thick Nylon Deluxe Dog Collar, 1-Inch by 24-Inch Double, Teal

Cons Of The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar

Its sizes tend not to be true to size. They usually fit tighter than the size suggests.

We think the problem could be that Hamilton didn’t figure the holes on the collar in determining the size. So what you could is go up an extra two inches when you order and see if that works for you.

More Affordable Option — Hamilton Single Thick Nylon Dog CollarHamilton 5/8-Inch by 16-Inch Single Thick Nylon Deluxe Dog Collar, Purple

The Hamilton Single Thick Nylon Dog Collar is basically what its name says it is. Similar to our featured product but without the double thickness, this collar is a good option if your dog isn’t much of a puller.

Most non-pullers don’t need the double thickness.

In addition, if you are on a budget, you could go for this collar and not feel like you’re stepping down on value.

High-End Option — Hamilton Adjustable Dog CollarHamilton 1-Inch Adjustable Dog Collar Fits 18-Inch to 26-Inch with Brushed Hardware Ring, Large, Ocean Blue Weave

This one, first of all, has a plastic buckle. It is also fitted in such a way that the load of the collar is more on the D Ring than the buckle. So don’t be scared of the buckle failing on you.

Like our featured product, the Hamilton Adjustable Dog Collar is double-layered for extra strength and durability.

Opposite Spectrum — Hamilton Plastic Coated Nylon Dog CollarHamilton 1-Inch by 22-Inch Plastic Coated Nylon Webbing Dog Collar, Safety Orange

This collar could easily be any collar’s opposite spectrum and here’s why. It is made with nylon quite alright but coated with plastic. You sure do not see that every day.

You hear of metal coating but nylon coating? You could just buy this collar for the novelty of it. Or you could buy it because it is durable and an awesome tool for hunting dogs. Whatever works for you.

What Others Are Saying About The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar

Because of its double-thick nylon layering, it is quite popular among dog parents, especially parents of vigorous pullers and dogs that have broken every collar they have ever owned.

Our Opinion

The Hamilton Double Thick Nylon Dog Collar is a good enough choice. It is comfortable and durable. Just remember to go two inches higher than your dog’s actual neck measurement when you order.Hamilton Thick Nylon Deluxe Dog Collar, 1-Inch by 24-Inch Double, Teal
