GrayCell Dog Backpack Review

GrayCell Dog Pack Hound Travel Camping Hiking Backpack Saddle Bag for Small Medium Large Dogs (Green,L)

Today, we’ll be reviewing the GrayCell Dog Backpack.

From what we could gather, GrayCell is involved in the manufacturing of dog products. It produces everything including toys, tactical gear, apparel, and so on. It has pretty good customer service as it hastily replies numerous questions concerning its products.

Before looking at this backpack’s features, let’s see…

Who Can Wear The GrayCell Dog Backpack?

Any dog between 19 pounds and 100 pounds. If he’s between these weights, it means there is a size of the backpack available that would not be too heavy for him.

To find out the full breakdown of sizes, and how to find the perfect size for your pooch, then you’ll need to stick around as we look at the features of this backpack. Let’s go!

Features Of The Graycell Dog Backpack

1. Material

This backpack is made with 600D Oxford cloth. 600D Oxford is considered to be heavyweight polyester fabric.

The first thing about this material is that it is completely waterproof. That’s a really good thing if you like going out when it’s raining. While your dog might not remain completely dry because the backpack doesn’t cover him completely, whatever you put inside the bag remains dry.

Another thing about this material is that it is really durable and hard-wearing. The “600D” there stands for the thickness, which is what makes it very tough and durable.

600D Oxford is also “hard-wearing”. What that simply means is that it is able to withstand much wear, it is resilient, and it is long-lasting. Aren’t those the qualities you’re looking for?

Other good attributes of this material include the facts that it is: breathable, soft, and it dries really well. It is also pretty elastic. This good elastic property, alongside it’s waterproofing capability, enables this material to prevent the accumulation of dirt.

2. Mesh Lining

This backpack is lined with mesh material. This helps to provide your dog with proper ventilation, reducing the risk of overheating.

For those who do not know, “mesh” is net-like polyester material. Because of the many holes, it’s easy for air to pass through to your dog.

3. Handle And Straps

This backpack comes with one handle and two straps. The handle is on top of the backpack. it’s used for controlling your dog in close proximity, like when he’s about to chase a squirrel and you want to quickly hold him back.

You can also use it to lift your dog for brief moments, most times over an obstacle. We do not advise that you use it to lift your dog for a long period of time. This is because, in doing that, you are putting a lot of stress on his ribcage and chest, that can never be a good thing.

Aside from the pressure, no matter how well-tailored the handle is, there is a chance that it can break. If it breaks while your dog is in the air, your dog is sent crashing to the ground, which can lead to serious injuries. Remember, dogs are not cats, they don’t always land on their feet.

Away from the handle, there are two straps. One strap is a cross-chest strap that comes from his “shoulders” and meets at his chest. This strap is then connected to the second strap which goes across his belly.

The design of the strap ensures that the backpack remains fit over your dog. It also allows for proper weight distribution. Weight distribution is often overlooked until you see how many dogs get body pains from too much weight centered on one area.

To make sure the straps are comfortable for your dog, the manufacturers of this backpack added foam padding. These pads create the necessary cushioning effect that makes the load a tadbit lighter and easier to lift for your dog. It also prevents skin irritations and chafing.

4. Sizes Available

This backpack is available in three sizes, small, medium, and large.

To get the perfect fit for your pooch, you need his chest girth, belly, and neck measurements (all in inches), and his weight. Once you have all these, check the image below for the size your measurements match. If your dog is in-between sizes, pick the size smaller.

Have you found the right size for your pooch? If yes, then you’re good to go. If no, then we advise that you check through our “alternative options”. There, you’ll find other dog backpacks and hopefully, you’ll find one that matches your dogs’ measurements.

5. Colors Available

4. There’s red, orange, blue, and green. All very bright colors, which means high functionality, of course. Functional in the sense that they’re easy to see in the dark and would, in turn, make your dog easier to see in the dark.

Pros Of The Graycell Dog Backpack

1. Freebies!

Yes! With every purchase of this backpack, you get a free collapsible silicone dog bowl.

Collapsible bowls are needed if you intend venturing into the outdoors with your furry friend. A normal bowl might be good, but that’s too much space being taken up. With these collapsible bowls, you get that little extra space which you can use to put other stuff.

2. High Visibility

If you’ve ever gone out with your pup when it’s dark, you’ll understand the importance of high-visibility dog apparel, especially if your dog is brown or black.

The colors that this backpack comes in are really bright colors, which make it easy for you to see your dog, even in the dimmest of lights. Also, the backpack contains reflective stripes that glow in the dark. These glow-in-the-dark stripes make it even easier for you to see your pooch when it’s dark.

Cons

Too Many Straps!

Well, remember the two straps we talked about earlier? Turns out they have other smaller straps attached for proper adjustment. That’s a good idea, but the problem is that they’re too many of them.

If it’s already hard to put anything on your dog, this backpack is worse. It takes quite a while to get it on, and even more to get it fitted properly.
