2Pet Foldable Dog Crate – Complete Review

2PET Foldable Dog Crate - Soft, Easy to Fold & Carry Dog Crate for Indoor & Outdoor Use - Comfy Dog Home & Dog Travel Crate - Strong Steel Frame, Washable Fabric Cover, Frontal Zipper Medium Red

If you’ve decided to get the 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate, then you’re making a wise decision going through this review.

2Pet calls itself a family of pet lovers and believe that pets are a huge part of their family. The brand makes it a point to always put pets in mind when designing their products.

2Pet is a fairly recent brand as it just opened its doors for business a couple of years back in 2014.

In the short time it’s been around, the brand has manufactured loads of pet products sold in different brick and mortar stores, as well as online stores too.

This brand seems to have a strong sense of social responsibility too. From our research, 2Pet donates a certain percentage of its total revenue to pets in need.

Its products seem to be generating a lot of positive reviews too on different platforms. And right now, we’re about to find out if the raving reviews of its 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate are justified.

At the end of our review, we hope that we would have been able to help you make an informed buying decision.

Who Is The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate For?

The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate is a soft crate, so naturally, it only works for crate-trained dogs as other untrained dogs would easily bust through this crate. That said, pet parents looking for a versatile travel crate that can be used both indoors and outdoors would love this crate. However, the crate only comes in sizes between 20 inches and 36 inches. So, it will only work for dog breeds between extra small and medium in size.

Very importantly though, you should never consider this crate for crate-training puppies. Here’s a proper way to crate-train puppies: click here to read our comprehensive dog crates and crate training.

2PET Foldable Dog Crate - Soft, Easy to Fold & Carry Dog Crate for Indoor & Outdoor Use - Comfy Dog Home & Dog Travel Crate - Strong Steel Frame, Washable Fabric Cover, Frontal Zipper Medium Red

What Are The Features Of The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate?

  • Top handle.
  • Foldable steel tube frame.
  • Made with Oxford 600D fabric.
  • Mesh windows (no flaps).
  • Waterproof crate mat included.
  • Two doors.
  • Available in 5 sizes and 4 colors.

1. Portability

The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate is made to be a travel crate. And so, naturally, it’s foldable. It can fold really flat and pretty fast too. It also sets up really fast as well.

Of course, there is a top handle which allows you to carry the crate really conveniently wherever you need to take the crate to.

The idea, at least according to 2Pet, is supposed to be that once you roll out the handle, you convert this unit into a functional pet carrier. And you can use the crate to carry your pet around for pet visits and other such errands.

Does it deliver on that? A big no. Yes, it does have a handle, but we don’t really get what the manufacturers had in mind when making this with a handle.

Many customers seem to find it awkward using this strap. And some others are of the opinion that it’s only useful when the crate is folded down.

Either way, it would appear that 2Pet did not achieve the ultimate goal for making this handle. Fortunately, the handle is removable, so you can take it out if you want.

2. Steel Tube Frame

According to 2Pet, this crate comes with tough steel tubes to keep the crate stable. According to 2Pet, the steel tubes are strong yet lightweight enough to make the crate foldable and in record time too.

Does this crate deliver on that guarantee?

Yes, the crate is very foldable, and it does fold very fast too. And yes, the steel frame is also pretty sturdy and durable too.

So, on that count, we guess this works.

3. Material

The material used to make the 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate is a soft Oxford 600D fabric. It’s a variant for the nylon material, so it comes water-resistant. However, the bottom part of this crate is not exactly water-proof.

Liquids will really seep through the bottom part of this crate pretty easily, and we don’t want that now, do we?

Now, how durable is this cover altogether?

Well, it is kinda well made – we’ve seen better, though (like this one on the Petnation Port-A-Crate Dog Crate which we recently reviewed. Click here to read the review).

But well made or not, this crate will still not stand up to a chewy or aggressive dog. So, ensure that you keep this away from such dogs, and puppies too.

4. Mesh Windows

Of course, your pet will need ventilation and that’s why it is super important that this crate comes with mesh windows.

And they are pretty large too. So, they will keep the unit well aerated that’s for sure.

Nevertheless, these are mesh windows after all, and so they won’t hold up to a lot of chewing and scratching which is quite to be expected.

Another thing we do not like about these windows is that they don’t come with flaps. Dogs are den animals and you need to be able to create that den-like ambiance for them.

Plus, there are dogs that prefer the coziness of a dark crate. It would have been cool and convenient to just flap down quickly to cover the windows. However, that’s not possible on this crate.

5. Water-Proof Mat Included

2pet thought it thoughtful to throw in a waterproof mat into this crate. And the mat also comes with a fleece cushion pad that is totally washable.

We have no problems with this mat.

6. Two Doors

This crate comes with two doors one in the front and the other on top of the crate. So, it’s super convenient to use and access.

Now, for closure, this comes with zippers, of course. The zippers are actually well-made, true. But it is not totally impossible for a dog to destroy this crate.

If your dog is well-behaved, then maybe not. But if he is full of energy, then beware of that slight possibility. It could happen that your dog breaks down the zipper and finds his way out.

7. Various Sizes And Colors Available

The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate comes in 5 different sizes and 4 colors. The available sizes though only cover small to intermediate dog breeds. Available sizes include the 20 inches, 24 inches, 28 inches, 32 inches, and 36 inches.

As for the available colors, we have the Biscuit beige, Bonny Blue, Grizzle Grey, and Rawhide Red. Fashion-forward pet parents should love this color variety.

What Are The Benefits Of The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate?

  • It folds flat and quickly too.
  • It comes in a variety of sizes and colors.
  • It’s quite easy to clean – wipe with a pet cleaner for light cleaning and air dry. Or throw the cover into the wash for extensive cleaning.
  • Steel frame is strong and durable.
  • Comes with double doors for convenient access to the crate.
  • It’s a versatile unit great for both indoor and outdoor use.
  • Comes with a waterproof mat included.

What Are The Cons Of The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate?

  • Handles are not a big favorite among many customers as they seem somewhat impractical to use.
  • Not great for puppies or large, aggressive breeds.
  • Zippers might not stand up to aggressive use from dogs.
  • Windows don’t come with flaps to cover the windows if need be.
  • This crate does not come with side pockets like some other soft crates we know. It would have been a convenient way to store some dog necessities for travel and all.

The Petsfit Portable Pop Up Pet Crate is a bit more affordable than our featured product. However, it is made just for small pets like your Poodles, Schnauzers or your cats. Basically, your pet must be 25 pounds or less to use this crate.

Check out this really cool and comfortable way to carry your pet around – the CLOVERPET  Fashion Pet Travel Backpack. Exactly! You carry the carrier like a backpack.

The straps are actually adjustable. And you can either use the carrier as a backpack or you can also carry it in front of you like a Bjorn.

Metal Crate Option – The Aspen Pet Single-Door Dog Crate

Aspen Pet Single-Door Home Training Crate, 19"W x 11"D x 13"H

Some dogs will be better off in a metal wire dog crate rather than a soft crate, and that’s why we recommend the Aspen Pet Single-Door Dog Crate.

It is stronger than our featured product obviously since it’s made of metal. However, it is not heavy duty, so not every pet will be good for this crate. Some dogs with a decent level of energy could still knock this down.

All the same, Aspen makes a point to install a 5-point locking system to make the crate more secure. But beware of escape artists, though. They’ll still find their way.

You can click here to read up our comprehensive review on the Aspen Single-Door Dog Crate before buying.

Your pet will be well-ventilated in this unit as the crate comes with 360 degrees ventilation. And there’s also a handle to make the unit easy to carry as well.

What Are Customers Saying About The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate?

Generally, we will say that the reception for the 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate is quite positive. It seems everybody already knew what to expect from this crate. And of course, those who tried to use this crate for their aggressive breeds had a story to tell. But regardless, it seems like many agree that this crate is well made.

The complaint about the zipper didn’t seem to be universal as we couldn’t get a unanimous comment about its durability or otherwise.

A universal complaint (or close enough) though is that the straps are quite impractical. And if the customers’ reviews are anything to go by, you’d hardly find any use for them.

Should I Get The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate?

The 2pet Foldable Dog Crate is a pretty decent crate and is quite affordable too. If you have a small, non-aggressive dog and you need an everyday dog crate for indoor use, the 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate is a great choice.

It’s not as tough as some crates we’ve seen but it’s definitely not as weak as some others we have seen as well.

Altogether, this is a decent crate and also quite affordable too.

Is The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate Any Good?

The 2Pet Foldable Dog Crate is an affordable dog crate with many great qualities. It’s portable, easy to clean, quite sturdy and durable for a crate-trained dog, and easy to clean as well. The double doors on this crate is also a big plus for this crate.

Should You Completely Cover A Dog’s Crate?

Dogs are den animals, so, it would be great to create that den effect for them with their crate. The way to do that would be to cover the windows of your dog’s crate. Some crates come with window flaps which makes it easier. If your crate doesn’t, then use a light material over the windows. Make sure not to use a heavy material as you’d disrupt airflow in the crate. Also, never cover your dog’s crate as punishment.

Should Your Dog’s Crate Be In Your Bedroom?

Definitely, your bedroom is the best place for your dog’s crate at night. If your dog knows he’s sleeping in the same space as you, you’d agree it would make him feel much safer. Plus, if he’s within earshot, you’d easily be alerted if your dog becomes restless at night and needs your attention. So, it is completely okay to have your dog’s crate in your bedroom at night.

Are Soft Crates Any Good?

Soft dog crates are great crates for crate-trained dogs, seniors, and dogs recovering from surgery or hospitalization. Soft dog crates also make the best pet carriers as they are more convenient and portable than other crate types. Some of them you can even lug on your shoulder. Nonetheless, they are not advisable for large, aggressive, untrained dogs, or escape artists. These guys would easily bust through these crates without much effort.

Some of these dogs even bust out of wire dog crates, so, soft dog crates would hardly be a challenge.

Should I Put A Pee Pad In A Dog Crate?

Putting a pee pad in a dog crate might seem nifty but it isn’t for two major reasons. The first is that pee pads constitute a chewing hazard and you definitely don’t want your dog (especially teething puppies) chowing down on a pee pad. Secondly, putting pee pads in a crate sends the message to your dog that it’s okay to pee in his crate which defeats the purpose of crate-training.

Can You Crate Train With A Soft Crate?

It’s not advisable to crate-train your dog with a soft crate; it often ends badly. Wire dog crates are a better option. Anxious and/or aggressive dogs could end up destroying a soft crate by chewing or clawing on the crate. Plus, if there’s an accident in the crate it’s much harder to get odors out completely when compared to metal or plastic crates which could trigger other accidents in the future.

Soft crates should only be used when a dog has been successfully crate-trained or if the dog is a calm dog.
